"MRX-4 could provide unique, non-steroidal, first-choice drug treatment for allergic rhinitis."
The study is designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of intranasal MRX-4 in AR patients outside of the local allergy season as compared with both placebo and an intranasal steroid. An experimental multi-functional anti-inflammatory drug (MFAID), MRX-4 is a non-steroidal potential treatment for AR that has generated promising pre-clinical efficacy data. In a Phase I equivalent trial completed in Israel earlier this year, it was shown to be well tolerated with no clinical significant adverse effects.
"We are excited about the opportunity to evaluate the safety and efficacy of MRX-4 in a multi-dose trial for treating allergic rhinitis," said Mark Cohen, chairman of the board of Morria. "MRX-4 could provide unique, non-steroidal, first-choice drug treatment for allergic rhinitis."
According to Dr. Yuval Cohen, Morria's president, it is rare for a first-in-man efficacy study in AR (phase II) to include a steroid comparator arm. "Most companies prefer waiting until they have generated substantial clinical efficacy data comparing their drug to a placebo before venturing to compare it to a standard market treatment, such as a nasal corticosteroid. Our decision to include the steroid comparator arm so early in our clinical development is a combination of our confidence in MRX-4's performance as well as the creativity of our clinical team in streamlining and maximizing the efficacy of our clinical development program. We believe that this will substantially increase the value of this data."

“We are entirely satisfied with these results” said Dr. Yuval Cohen, President of Morria. “They mark an important milestone in our clinical development plan which aims at offering a potentially safer and more effective treatment option in the multi-billion dollar AR market.”
MRX-4 was nasally administered as a single dose once a week for four consecutive weeks. The first administration was given without a nasal allergen challenge (NAC) while the subsequent three were carried out in conjunction with a NAC. The protocol was double-blinded and placebo-controlled.
During the trial, no adverse effects were observed with blood analysis and pharmacokinetic data further indicating safety.
“We are entirely satisfied with these results” said Dr. Yuval Cohen, President of Morria. “They mark an important milestone in our clinical development plan which aims at offering a potentially safer and more effective treatment option in the multi-billion dollar AR market.” Based on this data, Morria plans to initiate a large scale, statistically powered (n = 175) Phase II NAC clinical study in which patients will be treated for six days prior to allergen challenge. Such a study is common in AR clinical development. Further details regarding this study are expected shortly.

“There is a real and urgent need for novel, non-steroidal treatments for inflammatory diseases such as allergic rhinitis. Morria’s drug platform could potentially offer such an alternative”
The randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial is the first of two modules focusing on safety for Morria’s first human study in AR. MRX-4 is nasally administered as a single dose either with or without an allergen challenge to determine tolerance. Results are expected by the end of Q4 2007.
“We are excited to be taking this significant step toward introducing a potentially safer, more effective, and more affordable treatment option to the multi billion-dollar AR market,” said Yuval Cohen (PhD), President of Morria.

Morria Biopharmaceuticals Plc announces promising pre-clinical results in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
LONDON 8 June 2006
Morria Biopharmaceuticals Plc, a biopharmaceutical company focusing on novel, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, announced today that its leading oral drug candidate, MRX-5, markedly ameliorated IBD symptoms in independently-conducted pre-clinical studies in animals.
The studies were conducted using the DSS mouse model, a standard industry model that mimics the effects of IBD. MRX-5 was given orally in several concentrations for up to 7 days of co-treatment with the disease-inducing stimulus. Morbidity was measured by weight loss, intestinal length and intestinal permeability. MRX-5 significantly improved all morbidity parameters and no adverse effects were noted in a parallel safety study.
"We are very pleased with this important milestone" said Dr. Yuval Cohen, Managing Director of Morria Biopharmaceuticals. "It demonstrates the tremendous broad-range potential of our leading drug candidates and follows on recent similar milestones in skin and lung inflammation. IBD is one of our three core indications and we plan to continue its pre-clinical development and prepare a regulatory submission for human studies".
ABOUT IBD
IBD is a chronic, incurable, life-long condition that features relapsing inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract and includes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Over 2 million patients are affected in the world's seven major pharmaceutical markets, spending in excess of $2bn a year on treatment. Current drugs are often associated with severe side-effects making them unsuitable for chronic treatment. MRX-5 is Morria's first in class oral lead drug candidate for IBD.

Morria Biopharmaceuticals announces promising asthma pre-clinical results for treatment of asthma.
London date July 27 2005
Morria Biopharmaceuticals Plc., a biopharmaceutical company focusing on novel, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, announced today that its leading inhaled drug candidate (termed MRX3) markedly ameliorated asthma symptoms and reduced the levels of several key inflammatory mediators in pre-clinical trials in animals. The results of these studies, conducted by Professor Saul Yedgar of the Hebrew University and his collaborators, appear in the current issue of Thorax.
In the study, rats with ovalbumin-induced asthma were pre-treated with inhaled MRX3 to test for the drug's efficacy as an asthma preventative therapy. MRX3 was compared to a placebo as well as a standard steroid (dexamethosone). The results show that MRX3 inhalation markedly ameliorated airway-constriction and airway inflammation and suppressed levels of the key inflammatory mediator associated with asthma: cysteinyl-leukotrienes, TNF-alpha and nitric oxide in lung macrophages. Furthermore, the drug had promising efficacy even when given after the asthma attack had already commenced, indicating a possible "reliever" function as well as a "preventer" function
"This looks like a promising new approach" said Professor Peter J. Barnes of Imperial College in London, an advisor to Morria its asthma development program.
"This is yet another promising indication of the considerable potential of our drug technology in treating chronic inflammatory diseases and replacing current therapies, particularly corticosteroids" said Dr. Yuval Cohen, Managing Director of Morria Biopharmaceuticals. "Our strategic goal is to initiate clinical trials in patients as soon as possible while continuing our synergistic efforts with our other leading products in the fields of dermatology and gastro-intestinal inflammation".

Morria Biopharmaceuticals Plc Announces Completion of a Private Placement Financing Round-A in the Amount of £2.1m
London June 8 2005
Morria Biopharmaceuticals, Plc ("Morria"), a biopharmaceutical company focused on anti-inflammatory drug therapies, announced today the successfully completion of a £1.9 million private placing of 3,172,700 ordinary shares at a price of £0.60 per share. The round was led by its Financial Consultants Charles Street Securities (CSS) of London and follows a £200,000 private bridge financing.

Morria has two leading drug candidates: MRX1, a topical formulation for treating atopic dermatitis and MRX3, an inhaled application for treating respiratory inflammation such as asthma and allergic rhinitis. Morria is planning to complete its pre-clinical safety studies and enter clinical phase testing. In addition, the company intends to advance its business strategy and research collaborations.
As a result of the completion of the Financing Round, Mr. Gilead Raday will be joining Morria's board on behalf of CSS.
